The Charlotte Independent Brewers Alliance (CIBA), a nonprofit organization that aims to showcase the breweries and cideries within Mecklenburg and its contiguous counties, named Jenny Sassman Waters its Executive Director.
Sassman spent a decade with Birdsong Brewing Company in a sales and marketing role, and was instrumental in driving the growth and success of the brewery over the years. Her years working for Birdsong were not just spent promoting a single brewery, she worked tirelessly to educate consumers about local beverages and the importance of picking up a local pint.
“Having been a part of the Charlotte beer community since 2012, I look forward to advancing CIBA’s mission to move the craft beer industry forward, to help establish Charlotte as a beer tourism destination and to be a valuable community contributor. I grew up in the beer industry. This is an opportunity for me to not only serve the board, but to give back to the industry and community that gave me more than anyone could ever know.”
Sassman will work alongside CIBA’s Board of Directors to carry out its mission to foster communication among the Charlotte area’s brewery leaders, positively impact the Charlotte region through eco-conscious initiatives, collaboration, and consumer education.
Jenny’s passion to see breweries in the Greater Charlotte Area succeed is unmatched. Combined with her can-do attitude and willingness to put in the hard work, she is poised to make a significant impact to our growing, close-knit brewers’ alliance,” said CIBA Board President, Rick Benfield. Sassman replaces CIBA’s second Executive Director, Heather Harris, who will remain active in the craft beer community in North Carolina in her management role at Ekos.
